About a month ago, there was much news made of the 131mpg Caterham entered into Shell's Eco-Marathon.   The information at the time was fairly lightweight, but Energy Efficient Motorsport has released an updated press release which goes into slightly more detail.

Surprisingly, the final technique for gettng the max miles per gallon was "floor the throttle at around 15mph in third gear, accelerate to 25mph and then turn off the engine and coast."

There's also a good photograph of the car in action.
