Finite Element Analysis of a Locost Chassis

Print the article

This entry was posted on 16 Apr 2007 and is filed under Locost.

Over at Project.Locost, Ben D has been doing some Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on a locost chassis.  His preliminary results are in and the key one for me is that in a side impact at 60km/h, the chassis would deform by about 2 cm (20.1 mm).  He suggests that this indicates a survivable accident, which is good news.
